Love how you dress when pregnant.

If you’re navigating pregnancy for the first time, you may be spending a lot of time thinking “what on earth do I wear?” (amongst many other things). Your body is changing regularly in ways it hasn’t before and it’s likely your go-to outfits don't cut it anymore now you have a bump in tow. But growing a baby doesn’t have to mean you have to make sacrifices when it comes to getting dressed. Read on for our guide to nailing your maternity style and feeling good throughout every trimester.

Your style, just tweaked slightly

Your body is going through a whole load of changes but one thing that will help you still feel like you? Your style. Think about what you feel best in, then make the tweaks where needed to accommodate your growing bump. Love a barrel-leg trouser? Keep wearing them but swap your restrictive button-ups for waistbands that are elasticated and can be worn on top of or underneath your bump - like our maternity trousers Mabel. Love a print? Our Gingham Jumpsuit Savannah could be your fave new piece during pregnancy, and beyond.

Think about your long-term wardrobe

It can be tempting to jump straight to the maternity section and buy pieces you think you should be wearing, simply because they’ve got the word ‘maternity’ on the label. But remember that these pieces will only have a relatively short lifespan and will no doubt be sat unworn in your wardrobe for longer than they were actually on your body. Instead, we say invest in pieces you’d love to wear with or without your bump. Take our Lola denim jumpsuit. It’s got enough stretch for growing bumps and you’ll still get loads of wear out of it once your baby is born.

Invest in good foundational pieces

Think of your foundational pieces as your pregnancy-friendly capsule wardrobe. Stock up on a few versatile items that you can wear at any time of year and in multiple combinations. Like Poppy, our bestselling jumpsuit that works at any time of year. Wear it with a vest or tee underneath in summer or pop our Talia sweatshirt or Roll Neck on underneath in winter. A Breton top will always be a classic - ours is long, boxy and looks great with or without a bump. It can be worn under jumpsuits, with maternity trousers and will add a pop of print under your coats and jackets.

Embrace the bump

Gone are the days when pregnancy was hidden and covered under huge smocked dresses. We’re all for being proud of your bump, and showing it off if you want to. Find pieces that embrace your bump - not hide it away - yet still feel comfortable to wear. Our Flora is our maternity jumpsuit that will cocoon your bump while you’re pregnant and still look effortless when you’re not. It’s made from organic cotton so it’s super soft, comes with contrasting buttons down the front and has balloon-shaped sleeves that are so fabulous, you could easily dress it up or down.

Lean into comfort

The last thing you want when you’re pregnant is to feel uncomfortable, restricted, and frustrated when you can’t button up your fave pair of jeans anymore. So choose pieces that have give without them feeling like they swamp you when you’re not pregnant.

All of our pieces are designed for all stages of womanhood but those days when you just want pure comfort? You can’t go wrong with our Jenny trousers, with their oversized barrel shape, organic cotton and, like all our trousers, a flexible waistband. Pair them with Hugh, our loose-fitting organic sweatshirt, for oversized, understated sweats that feel like a real upgrade from the usual maternity loungewear.
